We Heart It

I don’t have much firsthand experience with shipping massive quantities of drugs discretely across the country, but I’ve watched enough documentaries on Netflix to know there are certain precautions you want to take when doing so.

If your preferred method of smuggling involves putting a bunch of weed in a box and throwing it in the mail, you’re going to want to take some steps to make sure the package arrives safely.

Ensuring you have the correct address is one of those steps — making sure the intended recipient will be the one to open the box is another.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, someone forgot to follow at least one of those rules when smuggling 90 pounds of marijuana from California to Pennsylvania earlier this week.

Upon opening two FedEx packages addressed to an unknown woman at the store’s address on Tuesday, employees at clothing store City Blue were surprised to discover 60 pounds of tightly packed (and high quality) weed.

While investigating the incident, police discovered a third package on the doorstep on Wednesday that was filled with an additional 30 pounds.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood attempted to sum up the bust using a quip that probably sounded cooler in his head, saying,

Ain’t going to be no Merry Christmas on 69th Street.

The store, if you haven’t guessed, is located on 69th Street in the city. The seized shipment has an estimated street value of $270,000.
