Two Merging Galaxies Create Magical Swirl Of Light Captured By NASA (Photo)
NASA has released a photo of two galaxies fusing together, the product of which is a psychedelic swirl of brilliant light.
According to the Huffington Post, pictured here are the galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163, located 130 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major.
The brilliant blend of colors is the result of three different frequencies of light.
X-rays taken by NASA’s Chandra Observatory create the pink light, images from the Hubble Telescope’s yield the red, green and blue colors while NASA’s Spitzer Telescope adds more redness with infrared data.
But the X-rays give the picture its neon glow, as the two stellar systems contain 28 producers of the most dazzling levels of X-rays that outshine most other galaxies of stars.
