Man Falls for Siri in Charming New Love Story
Siri & Me: A Modern Love Story (Blue Rider Press) by David Milgrim follows a blogger named Dave, who — like many of us — spends the majority of his day in cyberspace. He’s developed a special infinity for voice-command software Siri, noting that she’s easier to talk to than any girl he’s ever met. Well, most of the time…
“I love you, Siri,” Dave says. Her response? “I’ll bet you say that to all of your gadgets…”
He answers back: “No, really, I love you so much it hurts…” She then offers to contact one of the 26 doctors close to him.
“The concept to do something about Siri came from my publisher when we had a meeting after the iPad book, but it really resonates with me and I’m completely fascinated by technology,” Milgrim told Mashable. “It boggles my mind how much we live digitally now.”
Milgrim —who is an iPhone user himself — said he has a more complicated relationship with Siri than the character in his book: “Siri doesn’t understand what I’m saying half of the time, but Dave in the book is completely head over heels. The only complicated part of his relationship with her is that she isn’t real.”
Milgrin’s previous best-selling book Goodnight iPad was a play on Goodnight Moon with lines such as “Goodnight Nooks and digital books.”
Siri & Me: A Modern Love Story goes on sale Nov. 1.
