Snap a Shot of a Hearty Dish for Our Comfort Food-Themed Challenge
There’s no shame in craving a hearty meal and a little taste of home. Comfort foods might be far from gourmet, but their humble ingredients and familiar flavors often create memorable dishes.
For this week’s Mashable Photo Challenge, we partnered with Fried & True, a new recipe book by Lee Brian Schrager that serves up more than 50 recipes for America’s “most decadently delicious food.” The recipes range from country pan fried chicken and buffalo wings to candied yam and tomato pie.
So take a stroll down memory lane and revisit your favorite comfort food, whether it be smoky mac ‘n cheese, a full stack of barbecue ribs, the tomato soup and grilled cheese combo or fried chicken. Cook it up or order it off a restaurant menu, but before you dig in, snap a shot and share it with us using the hashtag #FriedAndTrueChallenge.
We made our own dish this weekend using a few recipes in the book: Highland Kitchen’s fried chicken, velvety mashed potatoes and Popeye’s-style buttermilk biscuits with honey.
Follow the directions below to submit your photos by Sunday, May 25 at 10 a.m. EST. Our favorite submissions will be featured on Mashable, and winners will receive their very own signed copy of Fried & True. If you’re based in New York, you will also have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Chicken Coupe at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival scheduled for October 2014.
