Farouq Al Habib is a well-spoken banker with a master’s degree, yet he did not hesitate to risk his life and rebel against the destruction of his country.

The Syrian revolutionary was a peaceful protestor who founded the Homs Revolutionary Council in 2011, but one year later, he ended up imprisoned and tortured by the government while the international community did nothing.

Here’s Al Habib speaking about his time in prison as well as what needs to be done to halt the violent extremism engulfing Syria.
