Calvin caused nearly $16,000 in property damage over 10 years

Calvin of Bill Watterson’s “Calvin and Hobbes” destroyed property worth at least $15,995 during the ten years in which the comic strip ran, according to this chart by Matt Michel. He included only explicit descriptions of property damage and not, for example, vague references to potentially damaging but unspecified episodes such as the mysterious “noodle incident.” These data are based on today’s prices, so the total would have been lower between 1985 and 1995 due to inflation.

A tip of the hat to Christopher Ingraham.
