Terminally Ill Basketball Player Lives Her Dream And Scores A Layup
If there’s one thing a terminal cancer diagnosis never took away from Lauren Hill, it’s her dream.
The 19-year-old, who was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor over a year ago, fulfilled her ambition to play in a college basketball game this past weekend. She suited up for Mount St. Joseph University and played in front of a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 in Cincinnati.
Hill, a former high school basketball star who was recruited before receiving her fatal diagnosis, trained rigorously for her moment, fighting through the fatigue caused by her condition. On Sunday, she got her reward as she scored a layup against opposing Hiram College.
