Instagram Gets 5 New Filters To Make Your Photos A Little Less Basic
Budding Instagram celebrities, rejoice.
On Tuesday, the social photo-sharing app announced the addition of five new filters to its existing collection. The new tints, which are the first since 2012, are more subdued than, say, Lo-Fi.
Perhaps they’re a reward for the app’s incredible 300 million user mark, which it celebrated in early December.
Some speculate the release came in response to photo-editing competitor apps like VSCO Cam and Afterlight, which subtly play with color to give each photo a polished feel, rather than making the filters look like an amateur addition to the image.
But, the filters aren’t the only thing that changed.
Beginning with the latest update, Instagram also introduced a “Manage” button to reorder filters based on how often you use them.
Bye, bye, Kelvin.
